B's First Quilts

Here are some pictures of the first quilts I ever made. This one on the left is the first lap sized flannel "raggy edge" quilt that I made. I donated it to an auction at the church and it sold for $50.

The one on the right was made for my niece for Valentines Day 2003. I used lots of different pink, red, and purple prints that had hearts on them and the cream was also a heart print. It is tied, and I made several mistakes in the binding, but it was well used and now hangs at the top of the staircase in their new home.

A Rainy July 4

July 4,,, rain and sun off and on,,, I think we now live in the NorthWest of the South!!

There are some more pictures of what we do, who we are....
this is B and S.... tying one of our quilts...dsc00146 and another one of them,,,, they are just the best quilt tie-ers!!!
tying a quilt Ok now this is the great view we have when we all meet. Always at L's house and she has a great one! Lots of room to sew, the iron board is always up and the iron is hot,, lots of connections for the machines and of course great company. If we get lucky,,, she has made us some fresh banana or zuchinni ( how do you spell this ) bread. And of course the zuchinni is out of her garden. What more could we ask for ???

See our view!
our view
this is a picture of S. holding one of the quilts that we made... Its about right for a lap quilt or if you are in a wheelchair... I found the flower fabric at a store for not much money and thought
it would be a good buy,,, a good focus fabric or a back.. finished quilt What do you think?? I bet there will be lots of quilts with this fabric in it, cause I bought the bolt - about 10 yards!!!. Here is another one that we made,,, I think we all have blocks in it....finished quilt Some of you may have seen these blocks in the past,,, Hancocks had them as one of their block of the months... well anyway L and I both had picked up a lot of them when they were marked down to 10 cents a block,,, now how could you walk away from that !!?? So we all took the ones we liked and sewed them up at home and brought them to one of our bee meetings and VOILA! another lap quilt! Stash fabric went into the borders and backing . Check out the block in the middle - one of B's designs,,,, isn't it great! and just sets off the quilt!

OK,,, this is enough for now,,, I have some of my own sewing to get done!

Comments are appreciated - just be gentle!

Happy 4th everyone! Fireworks and BBQ,,, what a good combination!

We are The English Street Quilters

Guess this is sorta like writing in a diary -- never did that as a kid so this is new to me...

We are The English Street Quilters - a group of 4 ladies who have gotten to know each other thru our love of quilting and the internet!!! Yep,,, no one knew the other until we all found ourselves as members of an internet group for quilters. Golly, that was 2, maybe 3 years ago!! We meet once a month and talk and sew and eat and eat and talk and sew and sew and eat,,, well, you get the idea.....

We have branched into working on community service projects - making quilts for people who NEED them. After all, doesn't everyone need a little hug? and that is just what a quilt is - a HUG made of cotten and good thoughts.
Ok, about the picture,,, this is 3 of us,, I'm taking the picture so I didn't get in it (( wink wink )) and there seems to be another camera shy member.... This is one of the quilts we made,,, I think S. made the blocks and we all put them together..
I have some other pictures to post... gotta get busy!
Thanks for reading!
